Live.
Build.
Endure.
We are inviting a very small number of outdoor athletes, builders, and thinkers to come live on the mountain and help shape the future of Elev8150 from the ground up.
"This is not a resort job. It is not seasonal work. And it is definitely not for everyone."
Elev8150 is being built by people who live here — not contractors who leave at the end of the day. We believe the strongest mountain communities are formed by shared hardship, mutual respect, competence over ego, and curiosity over comfort.
If you live here, you become part of the story — not just a visitor. The work is real. The mountain is real. The consequences of poor judgment are real. We are asking you to come knowing all of this.
What we're building has already been followed by a BBC audience. What you help build will be seen, used, and remembered.
and experiences.
This is not a paid position. There is no salary, no hourly wage, no stipend. We are not in a position to offer that yet — and we won't pretend otherwise. What we offer is a place to live, food on the table, and access to terrain and experiences that most people spend a lifetime chasing.
the same boat.
The Bellrose family isn't drawing a salary either. Six years in, this mountain is our life — not our income. Everyone here is building toward the same thing. The people who come now do so because they believe in what this becomes, not because of what it pays today.
possible for all of us.
When Elev8150 opens to guests — or when crowdfunding reaches a meaningful threshold — generating income for the people who built it becomes a real priority. That conversation happens openly, and the people who were here early are the first people it applies to.
Athletes. Builders.
Thinkers.
You don't need to be an expert in everything — but you do need to be capable, adaptable, and grounded. People who thrive in extreme environments, find clarity in hard work, and understand that real adventure begins where comfort ends.
Backcountry Skiing & Snowboarding
3,000+ ft vertical. Untracked powder. Six-plus feet of snowpack. The terrain outside the door is world-class — and someone needs to know how to move in it.
Snowmobiling
This is how you get here in winter. Sled proficiency is not optional in this environment — it's safety, logistics, and access combined.
Mountain Biking
Alpine singletrack, sub-alpine forest roads, and terrain that tests both technical skill and endurance. Summer access is earned the same way winter is.
Astronomy & Night-Sky Science
Untouched darkness at 8,150 feet. The sky above this mountain is something most people never see. If you know how to use it, we want to hear from you.
Remote Systems & Field Engineering
Off-grid power (Victron), water systems, heat, waste management, and mechanical maintenance in conditions that don't forgive improvisation.
Storytellers & Documentarians
Website development, YouTube, photography, film. Elev8150 is already being followed by a BBC audience. The story needs people who know how to tell it.
Nothing here
is busy work.
Everything you help build will be used, tested, and lived in. Projects may include:
-
01
Constructing the Earth-Rammed Lodge Lavacrete walls. Passive solar design. Frontier-milled timber. A non-combustible structure engineered for 8,150 feet — wildfire resistant, Victron-powered, zero grid connection.
-
02
Building the Tiny House Village A ridgeline estate of off-grid cabins positioned to capture valley views, forest silence, and glimpses of Showers Lake. Snowmobile-in. Dog-friendly.
-
03
Off-Grid Systems Work Solar, battery storage, inverters, water systems, heat, and waste — designed to keep a working mountain lodge running through Montana winters.
-
04
Trail Access & Snow Logistics Seasonal infrastructure, snow management, equipment maintenance, and mechanical repairs — in conditions that require real field competence.
-
05
Documentation & Storytelling Photography, film, website development, and the evolving narrative of Elev8150 for future guests, supporters, press, and the BBC audience already watching.

One step above
camping.
Life at Elev8150 is not softened for convenience. We're telling you this directly because the wrong person in this environment creates consequences — for themselves and for others.
This will challenge you in ways you haven't anticipated.
- ▲ Extreme winter conditions — sustained cold, heavy snow, and winds that drive both
- ▲ Long periods of genuine isolation — no quick access to town, no consistent cell service
- ▲ Limited modern amenities — this is a build site, not a lodge yet
- ▲ Weather dictates everything — schedules are real but plans change daily
- ▲ You will be cold, physically fatigued, and challenged in ways comfort cannot prepare you for
Experiences that most people will never have access to.
- ✦ World-class backcountry terrain — skiing, snowmobiling, and untouched wilderness outside the door
- ✦ Night skies untouched by light pollution — genuine darkness at 8,150 feet
- ✦ Silence, space, and a sense of purpose that most modern environments cannot provide
- ✦ Real contribution to something lasting — not a resume line, a built thing
- ✦ Part of a story already followed by a BBC audience — your chapter is part of it
Physical & Mental Requirements
Because of the environment, these are absolute. Not aspirational. Not preferred. Required — for your safety and for everyone else's.
The mountain doesn't grade on a curve.
-
Extremely Physically Fit Not gym-fit. Mountain-fit. You need endurance, functional strength, and the ability to work hard physically over long periods in altitude and cold.
-
Mentally Stable, Resilient & Self-Aware Isolation tests people in ways they don't expect. You need to know yourself well enough to handle it without becoming a liability to others.
-
Comfortable with Isolation Extended periods away from town, limited communication, and the absence of the stimulation that most modern environments provide. This needs to be genuinely fine — not tolerable.
-
Clear Communicator Under Stress When conditions change — and they will — the people who handle it best are those who communicate without drama, make decisions without hesitation, and adapt without complaint.
-
Deep Respect for Risk & the Mountain Avalanche country, extreme cold, heavy equipment, and terrain that does not forgive overconfidence. Risk awareness and humility are survival skills here.
-
Competence Over Ego We are not interested in what you think you can do. We're interested in what you can actually do. Understating your limitations is far better than overstating your capabilities.
What builds the
strongest mountain communities.
This isn't about finding hands. It's about finding the right people — and what comes from them being here.
The mountain equalizes everyone. What you build together, in hard conditions, creates bonds that last.
No hierarchy except competence. Everyone earns their place — including us.
What you can actually do matters. What you think you can do is irrelevant until the mountain tests it.
The people who thrive here are genuinely interested in the hard version of things. That's rare. That's what we're looking for.
You don't have to
be on the mountain.
Not everyone who resonates with Elev8150 needs to live here. We also welcome support from people who want to contribute remotely or in short, targeted visits — website development, writing, video editing, social media, design, research, logistics planning, fundraising support, or technical problem-solving.
Others may be able to assist through periodic visits or advisory roles. These contributions are just as valuable, and they allow people to be part of the project without the full physical and mental demands of on-site life.
If this resonates
deeply — not casually —
reach out.
We are not running open applications. This is a selective process by design — not to filter out effort, but to find the people for whom this makes genuine sense.
- → A brief introduction — who you are and where you're coming from
- → Your relevant skills and experience — honest and specific
- → Why this environment makes sense for you — not why it sounds interesting
- → What you hope to contribute and what you hope to learn
