Our children needed time to grow strong enough, skilled enough, and mature enough to live and work in this demanding mountain environment. We needed years of firsthand experience to understand the true costs of building and surviving at elevation. We needed to develop vital infrastructure and work alongside neighbors to make the land sustainable. Alayah needed time to complete her culinary journey so the hospitality and dining side of this dream would be real, not imagined. And as parents, we needed the patience and wisdom to see whether all the major pieces of life could truly come together before asking the outside world to believe in us.
What may look like slow progress from the outside has been years of necessary preparation. The dirt work may be the only visible result so far — but the real work has been building the people, skills, knowledge, relationships, and readiness needed to give Elev8150 a true chance at success.
