🌲 Spring Firewood at Elev 8150: No Jackets, Still 6 Feet of Snow

At 8,150 feet, spring doesn’t arrive the way most people expect.

There are no green lawns.
No early flowers.
No easy transitions.

Instead, spring shows up quietly—hidden in the warmth of the sun, even while the ground remains buried under feet of snow.

This week, it was warm enough to leave the jackets behind.

But the snow? Still deep. Still very real.

❄️ Firewood Doesn’t Wait for the Seasons

Living off-grid means one thing above all else:

Preparation never stops.

Firewood isn’t something you think about when it gets cold—it’s something you stay ahead of all year long.

So even on a warm spring day, Trinity and I loaded up the Skidoo and hooked up the Yukon Expedition sled for another run.

Two trees. One trip. Maximum efficiency.

🪵 Working Smart in Deep Snow

Out here, effort alone isn’t enough.
You have to work smart.

Dropping trees in deep snow is only half the job.
The real challenge is moving that wood efficiently.

That’s where Trinity shines.

While I focus on safely dropping and bucking the trees—running both the Husky 572 and our EGO 20” electric chainsaw—she’s already moving.

Positioning the sled tight to the work zone.
Eliminating wasted steps.
Maximizing every movement.

By the time I finish bucking, she’s already loading.

No delays. No wasted energy.

That’s how you stay ahead out here.

🚜 The System: Snowmobile + Yukon Sled

Our setup is simple—but it works.

  • Skidoo snowmobile for access and hauling

  • Yukon Expedition sled for load capacity

  • Chainsaws for fast, clean cuts

  • A system built on repetition and teamwork

When everything clicks, it becomes a rhythm:

Tree → Buck → Load → Haul → Repeat

And on this day, everything clicked.

👨‍👧 More Than Firewood

What makes these days different isn’t just the work—it’s who you’re doing it with.

Trinity isn’t just tagging along anymore.

She’s a partner.

She understands the flow.
She anticipates the next step.
She works with purpose.

Out here, that matters.

Because this lifestyle isn’t built on convenience—it’s built on capability.

🔥 The Reward

By the end of the run, the sled is loaded and the driveway gains another stack of future heat.

It’s not glamorous work.

It’s not easy.

But it’s honest.

And in a world where most things are instant, there’s something different about building your own heat—one tree at a time.

🏔️ Life at Elev 8150

This is daily life at Elev 8150.

Deep snow.
Changing seasons.
Hard work.
Family.

We’re not just building a lodge here—we’re building a way of life that we’ll eventually share with others through our future off-grid destination, restaurant, and guest experience.

And every load of firewood is another step toward that vision.
